on uya's touchstone

My great-grandmother had 94 years here (specifically in Carriacou) before transitioning. As she grew old she became tired and once asked that someone get a stick to beat her with, she'd had enough. I often think about the irony in her morbid wordplay.

While researching for Seedlings, I came across this video:

With Uya’s Touchstone I wanted to tell the truth about the women maliciously labelled 'Soucouyant' or 'Lajabless' by evil, greedy and wotless men.

Brianna's beautiful image conjures a stunning sense of dynamism, resolution and change.
